Calocurb®: A Natural Approach to Appetite Control and Weight Loss | What the Latest Research Means for You

Calocurb® for Weight Loss: What New Clinical Research Says About Natural Appetite Support | Revitalizing Health & Hormones

Looking Beyond the Scale

If you’ve ever struggled to lose weight, you know it’s rarely as simple as “eat less and move more.”

For many people, hormones, metabolism, insulin resistance, inflammation, stress, and even the body’s natural hunger signals all play a role in determining how easy—or difficult—it is to lose weight and keep it off.

At Revitalizing Health & Hormones, we believe lasting weight loss requires a personalized approach. That’s why our programs combine comprehensive lab testing, body composition analysis, nutrition, movement, hormone optimization when appropriate, behavioral coaching, and evidence-based tools designed to support your success.

One of those tools is Calocurb®, a natural dietary supplement that has recently gained attention following the publication of a promising 24-week clinical trial. While it isn’t a replacement for healthy lifestyle habits—or prescription weight-loss medications when they’re appropriate—the latest research suggests it may provide meaningful support for appetite control, fat loss, and long-term weight management.

Let’s take a closer look.

What Is Calocurb?

Calocurb® is a non-prescription dietary supplement formulated with Amarasate®, a highly concentrated extract derived from bitter hop flowers grown in New Zealand.

Unlike many weight-loss supplements that rely on stimulants or excessive caffeine, Calocurb works differently.

Instead of increasing your metabolism or artificially suppressing your appetite, it works with your body’s own digestive system.

When consumed before meals, Amarasate activates specialized bitter taste receptors located throughout the gastrointestinal tract.

These receptors help stimulate the body’s natural release of several hormones involved in regulating hunger and fullness, including:

GLP-1

GLP-1 helps regulate blood sugar, slows stomach emptying, and contributes to feelings of fullness after eating.

Cholecystokinin (CCK)

CCK signals your brain that you’ve had enough to eat, helping reduce overeating and improve meal satisfaction.

Peptide YY (PYY)

PYY helps decrease hunger between meals and supports longer-lasting satiety.

Together, these hormones play an important role in helping you naturally consume fewer calories without constantly feeling deprived.

What Makes This Different from Prescription GLP-1 Medications?

With medications like Ozempic®, Wegovy®, Mounjaro®, and Zepbound® becoming household names, many people wonder whether Calocurb is simply a “natural GLP-1.”

The answer is no.

Prescription GLP-1 medications directly activate GLP-1 receptors using pharmaceutical compounds specifically designed for weight loss or diabetes management.

Calocurb does not contain GLP-1 medication.

Instead, it encourages your body to temporarily release its own naturally occurring appetite-regulating hormones through activation of bitter receptors in the digestive tract.

While both approaches influence appetite, they operate through very different biological mechanisms and should not be viewed as equivalent treatments.

For some patients, however, Calocurb may offer an appealing option for appetite management—especially for individuals seeking a natural supplement or those who are not candidates for prescription weight-loss medications.

What Did the New Research Study Show?

The newest research, published in Obesity Pillars in July 2026, was one of the largest and longest clinical studies evaluating Calocurb to date.

Researchers followed 150 adults with overweight or obesity over a 24-week period.

Participants:

  • Were between 18 and 45 years old
  • Had Body Mass Index (BMI) values between 25 and 35
  • Were randomly assigned to receive either Calocurb or a placebo
  • Received general nutrition and physical activity guidance throughout the study

Researchers measured:

  • Total body weight
  • Body fat
  • Visceral fat
  • Muscle mass
  • Food cravings
  • Appetite
  • Safety laboratory values

Of the original participants, 128 completed the full six-month study.

The Results Were Encouraging

Compared with the placebo group, participants taking Calocurb experienced significantly greater improvements in several important measurements.

Average Weight Loss

Participants taking Calocurb lost an average of:

4.3% of their total body weight

That equated to approximately 8.4 pounds over the course of the study.

Meanwhile, those taking the placebo lost only about 0.5% of their starting weight.

Greater Fat Loss

Perhaps even more important than the number on the scale was what participants actually lost.

Those taking Calocurb lost nearly:

10 pounds of body fat

The placebo group lost only about 1.5 pounds of fat.

This distinction matters because successful weight loss isn’t simply about becoming lighter—it’s about reducing excess body fat while preserving healthy muscle.

Significant Reduction in Visceral Fat

One of the most notable findings involved visceral fat.

Visceral fat is the deeper abdominal fat that surrounds internal organs.

Unlike fat just beneath the skin, excess visceral fat has been linked to:

  • Insulin resistance
  • Type 2 diabetes
  • Heart disease
  • Chronic inflammation
  • Increased cardiometabolic risk

Participants taking Calocurb experienced an average reduction of:

32.5 square centimeters of visceral fat

compared to approximately 9.1 square centimeters in the placebo group.

Reducing visceral fat can have meaningful implications for overall metabolic health—not just appearance.

Preserving Muscle During Weight Loss

At Revitalizing Health & Hormones, we remind patients that the scale doesn’t tell the whole story.

During weight loss, preserving muscle is incredibly important.

Muscle supports:

  • Healthy metabolism
  • Strength
  • Physical function
  • Blood sugar regulation
  • Long-term weight maintenance
  • Healthy aging

One encouraging finding from the study was that participants taking Calocurb maintained their lean muscle mass while losing body fat.

Researchers did not conclude that Calocurb builds muscle.

However, participants were able to lose meaningful amounts of fat without the average muscle loss that often accompanies weight reduction.

That’s a meaningful distinction because maintaining muscle often leads to healthier, more sustainable long-term outcomes.

Is Calocurb Right for Everyone?

Like every tool in weight management, the answer is no.

Calocurb may be appropriate for individuals looking to:

  • Better control appetite
  • Reduce food cravings
  • Feel satisfied with smaller portions
  • Improve consistency with nutrition plans
  • Support healthy fat loss naturally
  • Maintain muscle while losing weight

For others, prescription medications, hormone optimization, nutritional counseling, peptide therapy, or other interventions may be more appropriate.

Every patient is different.

That’s why personalized care matters.

Understanding the Study’s Limitations

While the findings are exciting, they should be viewed realistically.

This study:

  • Included adults between ages 18 and 45
  • Focused on individuals with BMIs between 25 and 35
  • Lasted 24 weeks
  • Included lifestyle counseling in addition to supplementation

Because of these factors, the results may not apply equally to:

  • Older adults
  • Individuals with diabetes
  • Patients taking prescription GLP-1 medications
  • People with significant gastrointestinal disorders

It’s also important to remember that dietary supplements are not reviewed or approved by the FDA for weight loss in the same way prescription medications are.

Additional long-term studies will help researchers better understand Calocurb’s long-term effectiveness and safety.

How We Use Calocurb at Revitalizing Health & Hormones

At Revitalizing Health & Hormones, we never present Calocurb as a miracle supplement or quick fix.

Instead, it’s one of many evidence-informed tools we may recommend as part of a personalized weight-management strategy.

When appropriate, Calocurb may help patients:

  • Better manage hunger between meals
  • Reduce cravings
  • Stay consistent with healthy eating habits
  • Support fat-loss goals
  • Prioritize muscle preservation throughout their weight-loss journey

Before making recommendations, we take a comprehensive look at your health, including:

  • Hormone levels
  • Thyroid function
  • Insulin resistance
  • Nutrient deficiencies
  • Body composition
  • Lifestyle habits
  • Inflammation
  • Medical history
  • Individual goals

Because successful weight loss isn’t about finding one perfect product.

It’s about finding the right combination of tools for your body.

The Bottom Line

The latest clinical research adds meaningful evidence to support Calocurb as a natural option for appetite and weight management.

Over 24 weeks, participants taking Calocurb experienced significantly greater reductions in body weight, body fat, and visceral fat compared to those taking a placebo—all while maintaining lean muscle mass.

While it should not be viewed as a replacement for prescription GLP-1 medications or comprehensive lifestyle changes, Calocurb may be an effective option for selected patients seeking additional support on their weight-loss journey.
